The Whole Waitlist Thing

Can someone explain to me how this whole waitlist thing works? I have absolutely no idea.

I want to drop Math 1B and take Math 1A. But i'm not very sure what i have to do. I see that 1A has like 400 students and the waitlist has around 4 or 5 students per lecture. So that should give me a pretty good shot to get in right?

But what happens if i don't get in? Because if i drop Math 1B i end up with 11 units which is 2 below the min. unit requirement. And then not getting into 1a would mean i'm 2 units short all of a sudden.

And also, suppose i waitlist myself for 1A .. am i supposed to go to all the lectures and discussion sections without being fully enrolled?

you should waitlist for 1A and not drop 1B until you get into 1A (which i think you will). And yes, you should go to all lectures and discussions even if you’re waitlisted.

seems like you have a pretty good idea of how it works

so when i waitlist for a class in telebears do i also need to get myself into a particular discussion? Shouldn’t the discussion be all full?

and what happens with all the assignments and stuff that i’ve already missed in 1A by not being present the first few days?

you need to waitlist for a discussion as well.

you’d have to somehow catch up with the assignments, if you can even still get in to a section. Does math 1A have a requirement where you had to have shown up for the first week of discussion?

what do i do if i want to drop a class? just drop it in telebears ??

is there anyone else i should inform? or anything else i should do?

just drop through telebears and don’t go to that class’ lecture or discussion anymore. your GSI won’t really care. you don’t need to tell anyone.

ok man… thanks for all your help

i’m a girl, but no problem :P
