Thank goodness...this painful time of waiting and wondering and waiting and wondering is almost over!! Congratulations, everyone! We all survived a little game the adcoms like to call "How Long Should We Make 'Em Wait." Anyway, I've been getting a lot of questions over the past few months from family and friends about something called COLLEGES. Although I love my friends and family very much and I couldn't live w/out them, I've got to say I'm getting kinda fed up with the constant "Have you heard from any colleges yet?"--"What's your first choice?"--"Wow, you didn't get any merit aid from __!"--"Why do you want to go out of state? Don't you love us anymore?"--"Why do you want to go there? Isn't that a party school?"--"Back in my day, __ used to be such an easy school to get into, even I got in there!"

The list goes on and on. These types of questions and comments seem to come left and right from everyone, everywhere, anytime. I'm so grateful that I have people who care about me and want to know what's going on in my life; however, they seem to think that I spend every waking hour thinking about colleges, dreaming about colleges, and worrying about colleges. Now, I have to admit that I check my email like every 5 seconds and I run out to the mailbox at exactly 2:00 every day, just hoping...but, come on CCers, don't we all?

Ok, I'm rambling, so I'll just cut to the chase. Any comments? Funny stories? Weird or constant questions that family and friends have asked about colleges? Maybe you just want to vent...BRING IT ON!!!

I apply to colleges next year. Teachers, counselors, family friends, and family have been asking me about where I want to go to college ever since I was in eighth grade. My standard responses are now, " Oh, I'm just keeping my options open", "Whichever one offers me the most merit money", "I haven't visited any of the colleges on my list, so I'm not really sure at the moment", and the list goes on.

Now I pretty much keep it to, "I'll tell all on April 1st." :)

lol...I'm kind of using that approach with my dad, because he is so desperate to find out which colleges that I am applying to, but I don't feel ready to tell him (even though the list somewhat finalized, without the visits) because I know he will freak out with some of my choices. So just to buy more time, I tell him "I tell you in September or August."

Where did u apply?

I haven't applied, yet...I apply next year. I thought I said that in my first post?? lol...I'm most likely going to apply to USC, Rice, Brown, Northwestern, and Univ. of Houston.

Oh, sorry, duh. I'm getting just a little tired (lol)...

I didn't apply to Rice, Brown, Northwestern, or Univ. of Houston, but I'm waiting for my decision from USC.

Yeah, I have to wake up extra early tomorrow for photography class; I guess it will be classified as today, since it's only a few hours away. I'm just a night person.

Best of luck for your USC decision!!! Even though I didn't apply this year, I've been lurking around in most of the USC threads on that section.

Ya, that was dumb...and it's only 11:50 for me hehe.

USC is a great school; however, I kinda have my sights set on colleges located out east.

I used to live up east; it's a totally different when compared to Texas, but I love them both equally. Let me guess---you want to get out of Cali to get out of your comfort zone, and also because you hate O.C.?

Anyway, I'm gonna get some shut eye... As you know from my first post, I have to be ready for tomorrow's constant email checks and my race to the mailbox (lol)...

lol...hope you get good news from the mail and email

Everyone keeps on asking me where I am going to go after I got accepted SCEA to Stanford...it's getting very annoying.

Quickly...you're right about me wanting to get out of my comfort zone, but I don't hate the OC (as in Orange County). I was actually referring to the TV show...

Congrats, californiakid!!! That's quite an accomplishment! My best friend also applied SCEA to Stanford but didn't get in. Hopefully, she'll have more luck in the RD round.

To shiba: I hate the show,too..

To californiakid: You can respond with, "I keep on getting bothered by my parents about college and all; I just don't feel like talking about it every second, ya know what I mean?" (You can modify it to make it more formal if you are talking to an older adult) Congrats on getting into Stanford, though!!

Haha, thanks guys :)
