When a college asks you to write an essay saying, why do you want to come here, what about our school most appeals to you, what about our academic program prompted your application, how do you feel you will be successful here, etc. How do you write a response without feeling completely corny?

Some of them I've been able to handle. But when I'm writing about their academic program, I feel as if I'm just kissing their butts and listing reasons. Can someone help me?

Someone else posted a list of three things to do in the Why XXX essays that was pretty good:
1. Write about yourself
2. Write about the school
3. Write about the two together

It sounds like you're doing a lot of writing about the school, which is good. I think what you need to do to make it more personal is write about yourself, what you're looking for in the school and how you'd get what you're looking for in that school. This essay should not just be a Why XXX? but also a Why You? essay.
