columbia first!! (deferred ED)
then yale then princeton… i don’t really care for the latter two, though, so maybe is houdl do those first? who knows? i’ll know when the time comes!

I applied to all but Columbia. I’m going to check in the order they come.

ITT: Prestige whores.

I didn’t apply to all the Ivies, unlike some, but I really don’t think it’s fair to label someone who does apply to many of them as a “prestige whore.” Yes, you could argue that it’s between unlikely and impossible for all of them to be a perfect “fit” for the applicant, but for many applicants it’s not the prestige, but the financial aid, which comes first. I wouldn’t have regretted applying to all of them, because any chance at that kind of FA would be a lifesaver for my family. Yes, “fit” is important-- but sometimes, there are things more important than that. The generosity Ivies extend to low-income families is phenomenal, and for many, the Ivies are the most affordable schools in the country (if you can get in). Combined with their stellar academics, I don’t think many (if any) of the luxury options described in finding “fit” are enough to forgo applying.

Just my opinion.

Columbia, Harvard, Yale. Get it over with quickly.

1: Columbia.
2: Cornell.
3: U Penn.
4: Princeton.

So excited. Even though I don’t think I’ll get into any of them.

The catch about this is that many of these same applicants are completely overlooking almost all other schools that offer great merit-based aid.

I don’t see whats so wrong about wanting to attend a school for its level of prestige (although I wouldn’t want to do so). It is helpful when trying to land interviews, build connections, etc and something impressive to put on your resume.

I applied to one (1) Ivy (Harvard) just to see if I got in. April 1st? By that time I will probably already know where I’m going.

Why they all come at the same time? Probably so it’s just one big whammy instead of 8 little whammys spread out over two days. :D

This is the “ivy countdown thread” for a reason…
you think all these people really only applied to ivies?

I’ve never really thought about opening them in any sort of order (I probably won’t end up going to an Ivy even if I do get in, due to financial constraints), but it’ll probably be Columbia-Princeton-Yale. No particular reason.

Harvard

Princeton

Yale (because I like this one the least)

Columbia (so the final blow of rejection can strike me in the face before I break down and cry.)

Does anyone know for sure if the decisions are to be mailed March 31 or April 1??

Favorite (Princeton) last. That way, if i get into one of my other top choices, I’ll at least be happy and not breakdown right away feeling like a lost cause. And if I get rejected from anywhere else, I might not even open the Princeton one at alll…or at least expect it to be a rejection so it won’t hurt as much :)

Cornell (because I actually have a chance)

Columbia (least favorite among the favorites haha kinda oxymoronic)

Stanford (I’ll be ecstatic if I get in)-not an Ivy but same thing

Princeton (I’ll be depressed w/ a rejection even if I get into Stanford, at least temporarily)

No, I don’t think all these people only applied to ivies. I’m just saying that if they’re applying to every school in the Ivy League (8 in total), they probably didn’t apply to too many other schools.

Ugh, I’m not even getting interviews from P’ton or Harvard so I doubt I will even open any mails from them since the answer is so obvious. I bombed my P’ton essay, I know I did. :(

Since my email account is always open, I will open them in the order in which they come. There has to be a difference of seconds, at the very least, which I shall capitalize upon. I just hope it doesn’t go CLICK! REJECT! CLICK! REJECT! CLICK! REJECT…etc. Hopefully my friends will be staying over that day (it’s right after our last major school exam) and they can comfort me through it.

UPenn (deferred ED)

Princeton (I don’t think I have a chance…
Interview in 30 minutes! ahh)

Dartmouth (College that I did the least research on)

Columbia (Love Columbia and New York City.
)

Brown (I love Brown!)

Cornell (hoping to get in)

Cry because of 6 rejections

:D
:D

I hope so too. Hopefully, the message title will give something away so that I can quickly mark it as spam and pretend I didn’t see.

probably…
-Yale (cuz i didn’t quite like the essay. might as well let my first rejection come easy)
-Princeton (least favourite out of top choices)
-Harvard
-Brown (absolute favourite)
-Dartmouth (my tiny glimmer of hope. don’t dare to open this before others cuz if i get rejected i’d lose hope on all else.)

Does anyone have any idea of when we’ll know when we get in? I’m planning a trip to Yale and I don’t want to go if I’ll already know my decision. If I’m rejected, I won’t want to visit. If I’m accepted, I’ll probably want to wait for Bulldog Days.
