If I apply to Wharton, is this where I express my interest in it? or am I supposed to write more about upenn in general?

same dillemma. gotta find your own unique way out of it i guess. even if you are really interested in penn as a whole, you don't wanna make it sound as if it's only wharton that got you looking at the admissions requirements.

I like Penn but I really don't want to go to Wharton. Else things that Penn can be appealing?

What I'm thinking of doing is finding some ongoing research that I'm interested in and using that in my essay. Something like I wanna be part of this, of course not so simple.

yup thats what I did, tux

i have no idea how to do this essay. any suggestions?

bump......

there's not really much to suggest except taking an aspect of the school that interests you, and writing about why it's uniquely appealing to you.

caesarjing - you gotta work on your English grammar. Make sure your essays are checked by a native English speaker.

If you are applying to Wharton I see nothing wrong in saying "because of Wharton" as the answer to "why Penn?". Or even "because of the finance dept. at Wharton" or "because Prof. so and so teaches at Wharton". Sure, throw in some stuff about how it's great to have the resources of all of Penn and Philadelphia available to you, blah, blah but if Wharton is really what excites you then write mostly about that - they are looking for "passion" and an essay that reads like a generic catalog of all the great things about the entire U. will not convey passion compared to one that is focused on a few small but strongly felt items that are somehow unique to you.
