The World Of Mugs (the drinking kind) :)

I have this one and have probably had it for 10+ years. Pretty indestructible and easy to clean too. https://www.amazon.com/Hydro-Flask-Wide-Mouth-Flex/dp/B09SQPJQ9W?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1

I have mugs for each season and I rotate them in my mug cabinet. Right now, there are probably 10 Christmas mugs. Those will mostly get moved to the utility room storage shelf and winter theme ones will replace. I also get rid of a few everything I cycle things out. Then I have Easter and spring ones. And then cheerful summer ones…and fall colors.

I know…it’s excessive, but we have a shelf in our utility room dedicated to mugs.

I find them cheerful.

I drink my tea from a very special cup given to me by a Chinese student. She explained that it is made from a very specific clay from a particular area of China. I wish I could remember more, but it’s apparently quite well known as the best vessel for tea. She told me that the tea will eventually infuse the cup with flavor, and I won’t even need to use tea … I will be able to get the proper flavor with just hot water. I like my tea strong, though, so not sure I’ll get to that point. But I do agree that tea tastes awesome from that cup.

I use a yeti insulated tumbler. Keeps my coffee nice and warm. Is dishwasher safe.

@thumper1 - like the idea of rotating mugs in the cabinet. I have too many there right now, precariously perched. I don’t have any special themed mugs though! Do still have a mug from college days which is still my favorite.

Following the thread with interest. My friend’s daughter drinks her one cup of coffee all day long - she reheats the coffee multiple times during the day. I was thinking of getting her the Ember mug but I don’t know if I can justify paying 130$ for a mug. My H would think I am insane!

I believe there are dupes…

This is one I had saved on my Amazon list some time ago - I think I heard it recommended somewhere, who knows where?!

COSORI Coffee Mug Warmer & Mug Set, Beverage Cup Warmer for Desk Home Office Use, Coffee gifts, Electric 24 Watt, Touch Tech & LCD Digital Display, 304 Stainless Steel, 17 oz, Mug lid https://a.co/d/9ZFpo7v

I don’t really like drinking from what feels like a sippy cup, so I use real mugs and the microwave. I usually use some oversized ones that my son picked up at college - I think they are quite ugly, but they hold 16 oz. Unfortunately they no longer seem to microwave well consistently and the handles and rims get too hot. We have a pretty big collection of nicer normal sized mugs, and I have thought about just going back to using them.

I had that Bill of Rights mug. Unfortunately you can’t put them in the dishwasher and at some point someone forgot.

I have a mug obsession for certain. I prefer larger ones…16-17oz. Have around 15 or so. My favorites right now are my Starbucks city and “rabbit” mugs and pottery barn Christmas mugs (love the flat bottom as they works great with my beverage warmer). I also have a yeti tumbler I love that keeps my tea and coffee piping hot for hours.

These types of warmers work well with regular mugs…the more flat bottomed they are the better.

Back in 1985, I got a big promotion and my darling husband gave me a Sandra Boynton mug with carton rodents running around it with the caption “Welcome to the Rat Race.” Perfect label and perfect mug. It disappeared from my desk a couple years later, and I still have the one I got as a replacement. My go-to coffee cups, now, are white ceramic 16-ouncers.

One of my favorites is a Sandra Boynton also.
This is the one I use in my car.

I love this post. I actually work in a pottery store called Mudworks Pottery in Effort PA. I am a designer/painter. We sell to online catalog companies such as Uncommongoods and Uno Alla Volta. We also have a website and Etsy Store. Our mugs are handmade and I love all of mine. lol. Here is a pic of some of my favorites. Some of these are my designs but not all.

One of these days I am going to the Polish Pottery store (it’s about an hour and a half away) and pick out four mugs, each in a different pattern. Right now I use the coffee cups that came with our dish set.

Thanks for the link. I’ve been looking for something like this that can go in the dishwasher and microwave. No special insulation isn’t a problem if I can warm it in the microwave.

Gosh, I am not a collector person but I’m starting to get the vibe that I have too many mugs! 22 I counted in my mug cupboard.

It’s a weird thing maybe but when my kids come to stay they always say they love choosing their mug for the morning.

Here’s a picture of my mug area of a cupboard.

The green one in the lower shelf is my personal fav. I love the he little round handles on the Fiestaware ones . I don’t have “place” mugs except for the one that is a map of our town - I bought it as a prototype from the artist who designed it. I love the book one on top but it can’t go in the microwave so I don’t use it much. The little red stripe ones are for when I want a tiny mug or something - like warm milk before bed!

Oh, my goodness!! I love these!

Do you know what the capacity is for most of these mugs??

EDIT: Just looked at the website and the capacity for each is listed in the description. Looks like most are 14 oz, so disregard my question. Perfect size

I have a very difficult cousin, and when she came to stay, I would turn her difficulty into a game to make her stay bearable. I would count how many times I had to bite my tongue, and if I got to 10, I could buy myself a present. I picked a ridiculously expensive mug. It cost $50. I have four
