the writing test?

Should I take it and how long will it be all together then?

ACT with writing: 3 hours and 25 mins
SAT: 3 hours and 45 mins

so you only save about 20 mins if you take ACT/ not much

Isn't that shorter than the SAT writing one?
I guess its worth to take, are most of you people taking it?

if you are lucky enough to have a competent proctor for the test session you can rely on the given length of time for the test.

the reality is that they aren't competent. in fact, they're often late, don't know the rules, don't announce time remaining. you couldn't ask for a better clown show.

Whether you need to take the test depends on the colleges you are interested in. Some require it. Check with them or the college list on the act web site.

The ACT Writing Plus is worth it, as many colleges are requiring it (for informational purposes, not admissions). Check out the link below from actstudent.org to see if the colleges you're applying to want it:

The writing section is only an additional 20-30 minutes.
