Syracuse “waves” might start tomorrow if the pattern from past years holds. (There will be at least three and possibly four, all on successive Friday afternoons and when you get notified has NOTHING to do with whether you get accepted, rejected or WL’d.) Carnegie calls are usually just past mid-March. Not sure about the other two.
Last year Emerson was March 14th.(ish)
^^Exactly March 14th.
We’re wondering about Texas State Acting. I know acceptances and priority holds for MT have gone out, but does anyone here know when decisions are announced for the BFA-Acting side?
this is worse than waiting for them to be born. and my oldest was 10 days late.
Ahhhh @dennehy…we were so young and naïve then
so nerve wracking…
@Thespiandad the Emerson Application portal says that decisions are posted April 1st at about 1pm (EST I think?), but I’m not sure if that changes for Acting/MT decisions. DePaul said they mail (yes, snail mail, like the dinosaurs) their decisions on March 15th.
Emerson portal said the same thing last year and they released decisions on March 14th
@bogeyw I’m anxiously awaiting as well! I auditioned on the February weekend and the wait has been killer. Laura Lane said we will all know by April 1st but I’ve heard most musical theatre students have been given offers or put on priority old already. Some were even notified the day after auditions. Nothing has been said about the BFA Acting program. Ugh.
Any one heard from UMN/Guthrie from call back weekend? Feeling like my head might explode and not sure how these kids are managing to concentrate on school.
Holy cow, I JUST checked my email after replying and found out i’m on priority hold for their BFA Acting Program at Texas State! They should be notifying you today and tomorrow if you made it! @bogeyw
@4thtime, as a teacher of high-school seniors, I can tell you that almost NONE of them are able to concentrate on school right now. Aside from a handful with great ED acceptances, most of my students are still waiting to hear from schools, and in the non-theater world–at least from what I see every year at our high school–the majority of news will not come till late March or April 1st. Teaching them is like herding cats right now…very distracted cats. So at least the theater kids aren’t the only ones!
My son auditioned for lamda on January 31 in Los Angeles and was told callbacks would be announced the first week in March. Has anyone heard anything?
@Times3 as if you’re job wasn’t already hard enough!
Congrats @ActorsAlmanac! We haven’t heard yet, but keeping our fingers crossed!
Does anyone know about Chapman (BFA/BA) or USC (BFA/BA)?
@stagemom11 I know two students who heard from Chapman last week….and have heard that USC will mail to all on or about March 26….but that second one is really just a rumor, not substantiated.
@stagemom11…I THINK USC will mail acceptances the last Fri. of the month and it will be on the portal the following Monday. At least that is what happened last year.
I posted this yesterday on another thread–but since folks here are talking about USC:
End of March by snail mail for USC (also on their portal). But… there is a hint for some who receive an invitation to USC’s Theatre Open House which is usually held on a Saturday of the Spring Musical (so April 4 or 11th this year maybe?). The invitationis only sent to students who will soon be notified they are admitted to USC, so if you get it you are (very very likely) admitted. Due to vagaries of US Mail, sometimes that postcard invite is not delivered, and worry ensues. So you can’t be sure it’s a NO if you don’t get one. It’s confusing. And the post card does not say you are admitted, so… but over the past 8 years, it has always come to pass. And it’s logical because why would they invite a non-admitted student to see the big musical if only disappointment were to arrive just before the weekend of the Open House? Good luck to all applying to USC.
