My Jr. D is having a great spring with a lot of firsts - a great acting part in her HS play, and her first chance to be on the directing team for a children's production. She's always loved kids, has thought about elementary teaching at times. Now that she's strongly settled on a theater major we're talking about whether she might want to be at a school where a good theater ed program is an available option. I see some schools also have programs designed as "Theater for Youth." Or maybe just an elementary certification would be the way to go? Any help in understanding this would be appreciated.

We'll do our research, too, but I'm wondering if anyone has any comments on their experiences in these programs, or afterwards. I know that theater classes are a pretty low priority where school budgets are concerned, but certainly there have always been opportunities to teach theater in various settings. Her interest would be 5th grade or younger.

Thanks!
