Theater Education

Hi. My daughter is a senior in HS, interested in Theater Education but with a performance component. She'd like to be on the east coast (even though we now live in Hawaii!) and she'd like to be in or close to an urban area. A small school would be best. Thanks!

Here are some schools that have musical theater degrees and also have theater educaion degrees:
Wagner, Temple, University of New Hampshire, De Sales, Shenandoah. All are on the east coast and fairly near to, or in cities. There are others in other areas if you need more to look at.

Oh, and Emerson and Point Park

Carnegie Mellon is one of the best in country. Point Park U., also located in Pittsburgh, is also good, but not quite as prestigious.

You might try looking on the theater thread.

I have a friend who is going to be an incoming freshman this year at Emerson who is majoring in Theatre Education with an emphasis in acting. He obviously hasn’t started yet, but if this thread is still around I’ll be sure to ask him how it’s going! :)

My D is an incoming MT major/dance & spanish minor at Temple. I’ve heard very good things about the theater ed component of the school. The theatre dept. itself is also very strong and the advisors & profs seem ready and willing to work with the students. Temple is, however, a very large university with around 30,000 undergraduate students.
