My daughter is coming down to the wire on selecting a college. She wants to study musical theater and has a few options. She is in the BFA program and got a free ride from Southeast Missouri State. She also got into the BFA program at Carthage and the BA at Butler (it’s not a BFA but does require an audition). At Oklahoma City, I believe she was accepted for the BA in music, but not the BM in musical theater. She is also looking at University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Purdue, and Loyola Chicago. I would appreciate any feedback or advice any of you can give me about any of these schools. Thanks.
I would seriously look to see what grads do after they leave these schools. She wants to be at the school with the most connections and the best reputation. I know Butler and Oklahoma are top for dance, but not familar with MT. I also know that U of MN has been popular for MT. Not sure about the others.
I was hoping someone on here would be familiar with SEMO since she has a free ride there and that’s hard to walk away from. It’s only had a BFA program for a few years so it hasn’t built up a reputation, but the college is investing a lot in the program right now. I just can’t find much in the way of current reviews of the program. Same with Carthage. The money is not quite as good, but the location is better than SEMO. However I can’t find many current reviews of the BFA program. I know that U of MN is good, but they have not given much in the way of financial help, so I worry about her taking on loans, especially in an industry that theater. I’m also wondering if it makes sense to get a BFA from a less prestigious school or a BA from one that is better known, especially when you take into account the costs.

Try posting this to the MT forum.
OP has already done that so I will close this thread.
