Theatre and Journalism?

Northwestern University is a great option for acting in film or on stage. Although my son has informed me that Northwestern's theatre dept. does offer certificate program options ( similiar to a minor), the student will most likely not be permitted to take the best acting classes. Northwestern theatre majors experience conservatory level training. The main acting classes are small, year long for three years with the same instructor. Auditions for dozens of productions, mostly stage but including some film & some radio, are open to all students. Many Northwestern theatre majors double major and/or minor in the College of Arts & Sciences even though theatre tends to be a six or seven day a week committment due to shows & rehearsals. My son plans to triple major even though he participates in several stage productions, a radio show & acts in a filmed TV show.

Boston University has a great Journalism program through the College of Communication (currently ranked number 1 in the nation). COM also lets you double major in another school.

Post #23: What source ranks what school or program at BU as number one in the country?

How does the location of the school affect networking capabilities?
Example: LA versus New York versus Austin (TX)

Which is best to get started in a film acting career?

^^ I won't talk about "bests" but will mention that Chapman U has a new major in "Acting for Film" and is located in Orange, CA around 45 minutes from LA.

Cool thanks!
I was just wondering because my parents want to keep me trapped in Dallas. They don't think going to NY or LA would be any better than here.

I visited Emerson and even though they don't have much of a campus, the school is fun and has a strong program.
