How do most people perceive the theatre and media studies departments at Pomona?

I heard that it is one of best, very well-regarded.

I observed one of the media studies courses last week, and I really liked it. 14 people in the class, in-depth discussions about technical aspects of a play the class had gone to see.

Seaver Theatre (the theatre building) is my favorite building on campus - it's so gorgeous. The facilities are amazing too and they seem to have plays going on all the time. I hear great things about the media studies department too, and they just made it a 5-C major, so that means there will be even more opportunities for classes at the other schools (originally it was just a Pomona and Pitzer major).

I'm a potential media studies major and one of the student in charge of the 5-C film club Studio47. Media Studies is a rare major these days, so Pomona doesn't have a hard time being one of the best in the country - that said, the combination of the 5-C's allows for some absolutely amazing professors and opportunities.

It should be noted that majoring in Media Studies is very different from majoring in Film, and as far as a film school Pomona is simply not. You come to Pomona for it's academics and it's professors, not for it's film equipment and production classes.
