I'm interested in the theatre program at Vassar. Are the classes open or by audition? Is everyone in theatre terribly talented? I'm pretty good - lead or supporting in school productions at a small-ish private school. Would I be out of place and out of my depth?

I believe the classes are open. I applied as a theatre major and thought I wouldn't get in because Vassar's drama programs are pretty good. Oh, and Vassar's English department is reputed to be excellent, from what I've heard.

Both the Drama and English departments are superb. Every summer, there is an equity workshop for (often quite famous) NYC actors. Stick around during the summer and volunteer to help with it!

One does not have to audition for classes, just for productions.
