My son has applied for Theater. He has the option of a video audition or flying there for an in person audition. The Chapman website recommends in person. Anyone have success with the video audition (i.e. acceptance)? Any tips on the audition process in general from anyone who has been through it?

My daughter recently auditioned in person. She is an experienced actress in both theatre and screen. She has been through a lot of auditions. She was surprised by Chapman’s audition process. There was only one auditioner (Shakespeare prof) and someone taking notes, not a panel of auditioners. His demeanor was pompous and cold, and not a good representative for the department. So you either won over this one person, or you’re out. I did not think this was a good way to be judged. Good luck!

Thanks for the response. Your D’s experience sounds frustrating. I am guessing you applied early? When will she find out?

End of this month. Good luck to your son! It is important to audition in person. And with the heads-up he will be better prepared.

Thanks again. Good luck to your daughter.
