Theatre direction student looking for advice

Hi I’m a upcoming freshman(class of 2022) focusing on writing, directing, and maybe stage management. I’m international so I don’t really have much knowledge about which exactly is my type of school. I’m into comprehensive program that allows me to experiment with aspects in theatre making before I can make a decision. I’m also really into film so I also wish to pursue a second major/minor in film production because I wanna do multimedia theatre. I basically applied based on these two things. Not many people here are interested in theatre so I really can’t get much information.

I’m more into small school community vibe and kinda wish to learn more outside my major and I learn the best thru working.

I’ve been following CC since I started my app and I truly learned a lot from everyone in this community. I wish anyone who sees this thread can tell me something about the schools on my list. Anything would help. Now these are the colleges I’ve gotten into or may have a second chance.

  • Chapman ($22,000/yr scholarship)
  • DePaul (Theatre Arts BFA)($22,000/yr scholarship)
  • Emerson (Theatre Arts BFA)($20,000/yr scholarship)
  • USC SDA (Theatre Arts BA)
  • NYU Gallatin
  • Wesleyan and Northwestern waitlisted

Btw I am also into sports especially skating so it would be best if the school I’m going to have easy access to ice rinks

Hi @WillowWitch ! I saw your post on the Chapman board a few weeks ago, and I believe you went to NHSI/Cherubs with my son and even directed him in a movie. You got in for theatre performance at Chapman, right? You can definitely get a minor in something at Dodge, but you have to apply. My son is committed to Screen Acting at Chapman and plans to minor in something at Dodge. Emerson and USC would also allow you to take a minor, but you would need to look into whether it could be in film production (might be harder to do or not allowed at all at USC). DePaul is conservatory and very intense. I don’t believe you would have time to pursue a minor or other interests. Congrats on a lot of great acceptances!

Hi @Twoboysandadog omg WHAT A SMALL WORLD!! Thank you!
