theatre program

(transfer student)

how is the theatre program? what do students usually do after finishing up UCI? is it more theory based (like UCSD) or more performance studies?? how big are the class sizes?

^ I’ve contacted the Drama Dept and such (And I’m also a Drama Double Major entering as a freshman)

And it seems that it’s a well-balanced mix.
The program consists of pre-reqs, theory, performance, activities, coaching, etc.

And then once in your upper-division classes you develop your emphasis. So like uif ur gonna be acting emphasis then u take more of an acting approach.

I do know a few number of UCI alumni have gotten into acting, film, TV, theater production, and other performing arts activities out of it.

The program is fiercely competitive, but it is a great program!

I like competition
muahahahahaha

I doooooooooooooooooooooooo

It’s a terrific program with great teachers who will stimulate and challenge you. [UC Irvine Drama Department Home](http://drama.arts.uci.edu/)
The Trevor School of the Arts has a very collegial atmosphere, and there’s a lot of collaboration with UCI’s amazing Dance program; you’ll learn to move well.

A couple of tips. Unless your writing is very strong, work on it. UCI will expect you to write, and write well. Also, be in shape. One acting transfer student, who took a contact improv course first quarter, said he counted 16 bruises after the first session.
