Theatre

If anyone knows about their theatre program, please let me know. I am interested in applying, i just want to know more about it. Thanks!

DePaul has one of the best theatre programs in the nation. The acting school is very tough after the first year half of all freshman are cut. But it's a great school, in a great city if you want to pursue a career in acting.

Is such cutting common? I am going to apply to theatre performance programs for Fall 08. I am considering Rutgers, Boston Univ., Syracuse, DePaul, the Guthrie Program at Minn., Fordham, Florida, and Penn State. Does anyone know whether these schools cut? Is it the case that BFA programs tend to cut and put students in the BA program in theatre, if available? Of course, some of these schools have only BA programs. What is the criteria for cutting? GPA; not serious, they now think that you are not that good??

Cut policies vary from school to school. It's something not really thought about by those of us not real familiar with the competitive theatre programs. Here's the threads you'll need to become fully versed in the issue:

While I know you have interested in acting programs and not Musical Theatre, the MT thread is quite active and I've found the most valuable information over there (along with great support).
