Is there a good theatre program at UC? I am very active in it now, but it will not not my major. However, I want to go to a school with some sort of theatre program.

Chicago has a lot of great options in theater for majors and non-majors (and the program is not limited to majors!)

Check out:
UT & TAPS

Also, we will soon have The Reva and David Logan Center for Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Chicago built and open for student use. That's a little bit off in the distance (I think it's scheduled to open in 2010?) but it's a sign that Chicago is interested in amplifying its commitment to student theater and arts.

I think you'll find a relatively small but enthusiastic corps of people just like you -- they will be doing something else with their lives, but they really love theater and are committed to doing it. Plus an even smaller and more enthusiastic nucleus of people who really want to be theater professionals, but who value the breadth and intellectuality of education at Chicago vs. getting more pre-professional training.

It's very easy to get involved, and to do as much as you are willing to do. Directing, acting, dancing, music, design, tech work, producing. The quality is as high as you are willing to make it. (Which means: sometimes not as high as you would like.) It's almost completely student-driven.

Of course, there is theater stuff going on all over Chicago, from things like Broadway tours and Blue Man Group to Steppenwolf and Second City, to the Lyric Opera and the Joffrey Ballet, to lots of small avant garde companies.

Yeah! I am interested in Psychology and Theatre, so this school looks pretty good.
