Has anyone purchased(torrented) academic course lectures from this site The Great Courses® - Audio & Video Lectures from The World?s Best Professors The professors all have high credentials and I suppose they'd be really useful for self-studying since the courses cover a whole range of subjects. They're reviewed very well yet not many people I've talked to know about it. What do you guys think?

Yeah, for some reason they’re not that well known among high schoolers, but I’ve used them to supplement classes and learn about subjects my school doesn’t offer classes for. The instructors are pretty good, the content interesting, and I love the fact that you can pause the lectures at any time. However, they aren’t specifically designed for, say, an AP course so I wouldn’t recommend using them as an only resource for something like that. Also, they’re pretty expensive, so you should probably borrow one from a local library and see if you like the format before buying.

I used to listen to these when driving. The quality is really good. You will, without doubt, learn a lot about the subject matter.

As for self-study, such as for AP exams, I would listen to these but also use some of the published study guides.

Yeah I agree they’re definitely not substitutes for an actual AP class. I do enjoy listening to them and they can increase my understanding on the subject. I just keep them on my laptop and watch a couple when I get bored, which is more productive than watching tv series.
