Ok my CC friends we all know that the top universities are ultra selective..I would like to know which colleges are very selective but once you get in it's no too hard to get good grades(i know that it depends on your major)?

You don't want to be challenged? If you're not being challenged at a top school then chances are it doesn't deserve to be ranked as such. Grade inflation is not a good thing.

I'm not worried about a school beeing hard ( i hane no problem studying)... i'm just curious ...

A certain school in Palo Alto immediately comes to mind.

St Johns NM and St Johns MD

sakky I wouldn't say it isn't hard to get good grades at Stanford. I've talked to many of them and its not that its easy to get As just hard to get Ds. In other words its hard to fail at stanford but also hard o get good grades.

Lies. Stanford students come out looking fresh and energetic.

huh?? What do you mean?

Duke 10 char

Look the whole idea of this thread is wrong. What matters more than which school is which major (I'm sure people will back me on this). For example engineering students and students who are studying some sort of hard science definitely have to work more than other people. Not all people in the same school study equally you know. This is part of the reason why Caltech and MIT students are known to study a lot (many of them are into these majors).

some schools have grade deflation tho

Oooh, you showed me! lol!

Yeah, but that's the point. To me, by far the most important component of getting good grades is simply avoiding bad grades. And, like you said, it's almost impossible to get a truly bad grade at Stanford (but frightfully easy to get bad grades at certain other schools). Basically, at Stanford, as long as you do the bare minimum of work, you know you're going to graduate. You may graduate at the bottom of your class, but you'll still graduate. There are other schools in which you can work like a dog, and STILL flunk out.

according to princeton review:

this is 2003 standings, but i dont expect them to be entirely different
surprised?

I have a very very hard time believing that Michigan students really study harder than Caltech students. I think even somebody like Alexandre would find that assertion to be dubious.

Here are the latest 2007 Princeton Review rankings for "Their Students Never Stop Studying"

California Institute of Tech.

Massachusetts Institiute of Tech.

I think this is pretty different from 2003.

Looks like you are right sakky.

Tech majors usually have a harder time than other majors. This is probably why the list is skewed towards universities with great engineering/comp sci, etc.

how do you even judge something like that??!!

yeah my neighboring school isnt on there! DANG STUPID RANKIngs..lol ive never seen webb institute but scarily enough..its on the same strech of beach as my beach is on but just further down its like a neighbor to my beach
