I didn’t get anything…so I’m guessing a rejection? lol.

Good Job! We just rec’d an e-mail last night as well. We were late with the application (drat…), and the e-mail says a little more waiting & a waiting list…But, good news…we did the final college visits and USC here we come!!! (with or without TO, but hopefully with…) fingers crossed…

“Thank you for your application to the Thematic Option Honors Program at the University of Southern California. Unfortunately, applications received after the April 3rd deadline can only be reviewed after May 1, 2009, and students will receive notification before Summer Orientations. Those that are accepted will be placed on a waiting list and enrollment in the program will be on a space available basis only.”

Oh goodness. I guess I didn’t get in then because I haven’t received anything either…

the funny thing is i thought Trustee/Presidential scholars were a shoe-in for the program. ah well. i guess USC wasn’t meant to be.

UPenn, here i come!

UGH. Yeah, I didn’t get in but I’m still coming for USC :)

Were you invited or Trustee/Pres? I was also under the impression that generally anyone who applied was accepted. I’m sorry you didn’t make it though.

I was awarded a presidential scholarship at the end of march.

As far as my rejection from TO, I think I’m partially to blame; when I went to my USC Explore stay-over/interview, my host told me it was ridiculously easy to get into TO if you were a Trustee/Presidential scholar. I accordingly slacked on the application and didn’t really give it my full effort. In hindsight, I should’ve tried harder. I guess it ISN’T really that easy to get into.

Congratulations to those who were accepted into TO!

EDIT: And yes, I was invited to apply to the TO Program.

Last year, there are some students who are Trustee scholarship recipients but did not get invited. Trustee recipient is not a shoo-in.

I was a Trustee candidate, got Presidential. I slacked off too, but I did put more effort than I originally wanted to. Yes, I thought all of us to attended ExploreUSC got invited to go. I thought it was amazingly easy to get in as well. :/

In-N-Out and others, there are only 196 (or so?) spots for TO and more than that number get Trustee, Presidential and NMF Presidential. However, not all in those categories choose to apply. If you REALLY want TO (and if I were you, I really would want it!), and if that is the deciding factor why you will not choose USC, please call the Thematic Options office asap. Explain your decision and how much you want TO. There are often times when kids drop out of TO (one example, a student is on a waitlist for an Ivy, gets in during the summer and drops USC and their TO spot opens up.) We know a brilliant kid who was a spring admit, got bumped up to fall (yay) and then had to go on the waitlist for TO. A spot opened for him in time to register with TO. If you really want something for your education, I hope you will all fight for it–and not slack off. LOL!

You must note, however, that USC will probably also consider the late applications as well.
