Hi, everyone. I am taking the AP USH class now and my teacher gave us some ways to cope with the FRQ. He said that there are certain themes that will repeatedly appear on nearly every exam (out of 4 FRQs). Some of the themes are like the colonial ages, the road to civil war, and the Progressive Era. Do you get similar information from your teachers? Please list the themes your teachers tell you and maybe we can make a pretty strong list that will cover nearly all of FRQs.

My teacher says the same thing. Large themes like Jeffersonian Democracy, Jacksonian Democracy, Slavery, Colonial America and Revolution, etc etc…

The two APUSH teachers at my school are betting on an FRQ this year being over either slavery or the constitution. Hoping for slavery, lol.

There’s always at least one question that deals with African Americans, African American culture, or slavery (in colonial times, pre-civil war, and antebellum). Last year, there were two questions, and I would bet that you can get through two of the essays without knowing anything but history that relates to African Americans in some way.

My teacher says that the Big Three are African American history, Women’s history, and Immigration.

followtheybr: Thank you for your information. I think I’d better write something on them.
