I have a question that may be theoretical or possibly real. Let's say I am taking an AP English online self study course. I've done well in it and turned the midyear report in for it. However as time progressed, I realized I may not finish it in time or possibly not get a good grade in it. If I already had enough credits for english for graduation, would it be okay to drop this class as this is an extra online class I'm taking? btw I have more than enough science and math credits since I'm going to go all out for engineering in college. Basically, I'm done with all the credits. Just wondering for this theoretically real situation. :) (I know, its kind of like an oxymoron, but oh well.)

I assume you’re a senior and you’ve already applied, so you’ll know whether or not you got in this March. In that case, are you wondering if dropping the class will cause MIT to rescind your admission if you get in? The answer to that is no. If you’re wondering if it’s worth finishing for your own sake, that’s entirely up to you. A 5 on a humanities AP exam gets you 9 units (3/4 of a class) of general elective credit, which may or may not be useful to you (it hasn’t been for me). A 5 in AP English also gets you out of the FEE, a writing test you take the summer before your freshman year, which I hear is obnoxious, and gets you out of having to take a writing class your first semester.
