svg1990^^^^thats good news for me, but y do u think that?

if they say they are going to send a very large batch on the 28th, wouldnt this mean that most of the letters they send out are rejection letters since there are over 36000 applicants this year

Of course. Only 7600 acceptances. That’s about a 21% admit rate. About 4000 actually go.

so basically the last batch is all rejections

no.. i think (from what i remember in a diff thread) theyve only sent out about half of the acceptances. so that batch should have a fair amount.

How do you figure half? There’s only 300 spots for Trustee and Presidential. And 250 for deans. And let’s say that’s anywhere from 1000-2000. Plus a few hundred admits. I figure about 4000-5000 admission notices to go.

ooo, i like that

Yeah but they admitted a lot of people in that second wave who i don’t think are being considered for anything. I think only the first wave was people being considered for scholarships.

ooh i hope youre right tom!

so then, everyone who has a “being reviewed” around february is pretty much in according to this theory?

lol i’m getting confused the more i read into this stuff ><

The first post I made on this forums was to post that I’ve been there since 2/10. It could mean outright rejection, or it could just mean that you’ve been in review and they periodically go back if they didn’t catergorize you.

In many cases their status system is probably not an accurate reflection. I sent my mid year grades like 3 weeks ago and my page said they still needed it so I called. The guy told me to disregard that and they got my grades a long time ago. So for people freaking out, I’m sure they have so many they don’t have time to change every single status and they don’t expect us to look so much into it ;].

actually…isn’t more likely that people that have “being reviewed” since early february will be in the next wave. it just seems to make more sense because the people in the most recent wave had “being reviewed” since early january, and got theirs 2/29. so next wave should be early february, and we get it 3/14. then the third wave, since many people got changed recently, should be the big batch of acceptances on 3/28. Somebody correct me if i’m wrong!

^that makes sense to me^

USC has to send out their decisions by April so its pretty obvious most people should be “in review” by now… they shouldn’t be procrastinating with 30000+ applications hah

pinkellow i really love you for that post i had been in such a bad mood the past couple of hours cause i keep thinking ima be a USC reject. but after reading your post, i had regained some hope.

Here is a breakdown of last year’s freshman class:

College of Letters, Arts and Sciences 26%
Marshall School of Business 18%
Undecided / Undeclared 18%
Viterbi School of Engineering 14%
USCs Arts Schools 12%
(Architecture, Roski School of Fine Arts,
Thornton School of Music, Theatre)
Annenberg School for Communication 5%
School of Cinematic Arts 5%
Keck School of Medicine (Health Studies) 1%
School of Policy, Planning & Development <1%
Davis School of Gerontology <1%

I would venture that many of those with required supplemental applications, portfolios, interviews and auditions will be in the final groups as they take longer to process. Those who qualified for scholarships were already notified but without school approval. I don’t know if that helps anyone, but i found it interesting.

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

Status last updated: 3/10/2008 9:58:16 PM

what does this mean in terms of this theory!?

i applied for december 10th deadline and wasnt considered for trustees/deans. i also submitted mid-year grades… my status used to say something along the lines of “we have received your midyear grades… we require no additional information…”

lilchica-according to the theory…your status was theorized to be in the 3/28 wave

have you guys read that someone on here said that some rejections were already sent out? that we’re all in the “maybe” pile. Just wanted to know what you guys thought about this…

does that mean that the next batch could possibly be a rejection batch?
