There are only like two of us on here....

BUT 23 DAYS TO HERNDON FOR THE CLASS OF 2009!

i cannot, cannot contain it anymore.

Whoop-whoop! I'm excited for you, Wheelah!

So, about Herdon..............

Does the class have a committee that forms a Herndon strategy? How do they decide who the main climbers will be? Surely the engineers (all of you, really!) must think they can concoct a human framework that will smoke the previous classes' times.

so far...not that i've heard. and i don't know what we do have "main climbers", it seems like its just a lets-go-get-it business. lol i don't think we have to worry about smoking previous classes, since '07 forgot they had to put a new cover up after they ripped the other one down...and left. or so my firsties told me.

You have GOT to be KIDDING!

So what's the record these days, anyway? IIRC, 1991 did it in 41 minutes (I wasn't there. I was underway on my cruise already.).

That is too funny, Wheelah. Seems like they should have stayed plebes another night at least for that!

Z: boy, the Navy didn't waste any time getting you haze grey and underway!

I volunteered. It was a single SSBN patrol rather than two traditional cruises, and gave me the opportunity to earn my Enlisted Submarine Qualification, which we (7 Mids) all got.

I also missed my Ring Dance. Haze grey and underway aboard USS FINBACK. In a complete scam, I ended up with 70 days of consecutive leave the summer before my 1/C year. I'd say that was worth not going to the Ring Dance..... alone. :)

Sadly, however, those were the only two subs I ever sailed on. Still bums me out. :(

STUDY, people!

Guess that makes it about one year and 23 days until we get to climb it. Can't wait!

It goes by so fast. I seriously can't believe that I have been living here almost a year.
I'v been in uniform issue and I see them stocking up, getting ready for when the 2010s come in on I-day. It brings back memories of my own I-day. I'v so glad that I never have to do that day again, but good luck to those who are getting ready for it this summer. Just remember that everyone did it. It's just something that you have to get through.

One parent from a previous year mentioned that one class of plebes made sure that some of them in the lower rungs of the Herndon climb wore belts so that they had some leverage to stand on each other without slipping on that grease . Hope they don't forbid belts due to that bit of ingenuity...but you wheelah might check this out...

wheelah, what do you think about getting all the girls together and taking over Herndon? Do you think there would be blood on the ground by the end?

It is inadvisable to wear anything other than a swimsuit under PT gear, simply because of safety.

We've all seen the videos (if you haven't, well, find one). Plebes come within inches of reaching the cover, only to come crashing down in a rather disorganized heap. Should someone manage to get a limb cought in someone else's belt, you they may end up with a serious, SERIOUS injury.

Besides, why not just do it the way it's intended to be done? Beat the record doing it RIGHT, instead of making up all sorts of work-arounds.

you stickler for PURITY, Zaph, you!
No wonder you're so loveable to this compulsive New Yorker!
:-)

keepon-
sigh. they ripped the girl down last year from the top. i dont think a woman will be at the top, or a women's cover, for a while. but we can try!

Wheelah & keepon - congrats for "surviving"! Keep in mind you have peskemom & wvdad's female mids not to mention a boat load, sorry Z, a SHIP LOAD of other young women coming aboard!

so close
some upperclass are letting us call them by their first names
it's just too much

haha i know its intense.

eighteen days!

Yeah 18 days til Herdon... Just 4 days of finals and then its intersessional time! Never been to NYC before so it should be fun times. Hope everyone has a great week.
