There's a lot about OOS...but what about in-state?

I think the overall admissions rate is 36%. Since OOS is so competitive, how much higher in IS?

I've looked everywhere to find those stats and I've been unsuccessful. Does anyone know??

IS is about 55%, according to a UNC info sheet i found in my couselor's office.

how i envy you in-staters.

while a lot of emphasis is placed on out of state applicants in this forum (because there are a lot more OOS applicants than IS applicants), the fact of the matter is that there are a lot more IS matriculants than OOS matriculants. Is it more competitive for OOSers? Yes. However, in-state applicants aren't slouches, either. UNC is VERY respected throughout the state of north carolina. It is on par with going to duke (dook) or some equally reputable institution. Almost all of the in-staters that I am friends with were at the top of their class, and turned down other viable options in order to become a tar heel. Truly, the education caliber at an in-state price is simply unbeatable.

The average SAT for in-state freshmen last year was 1288. Since that number includes many special admits, you should have higher numbers to be competitive. This link has lots of information:

ahhhhhh! could i be any more paranoid about college? as a rising senior i've got the OMGIMNOTGOINGTOGETINTOANYWHEREEVERANDIMGOINGTOFAILATLIFE syndrome. :(

Exactly, UNC is respected throughout the state of NC and they aren't known for taking slackers. Every kid in UNC high schools dreams of going to UNC (thats a gross overstatement I know) but the in state acceptance rate is still highly competitive compared to other public schools.
