This guy from my school got into Harvard SCEA. Then they revoked their offer of admission because he lied on his application. I don't know anything else about it, so don't bother asking. I just wanted to remind you guys that these things DO happen.

And Harvard is probably going to blacklist my school now...

DianeR - My school seems to get blacklisted often. I heard that the reason why Princeton didn't take ANYONE from my school for a few years was because some girl didn't get in and her dad bugged the admissions office until they let her in, so then they hated our school. Just last year they started taking people in. We've had 10-15 people get in in the past two years, and probably like 5 in the two years before that. I heard Yale just blacklisted my school because someone applied early to both Harvard and Yale last year, got into both, and then chose Harvard.

wannabazn88 - Read my original post again.

bball06 - EC's, leadership positions, awards/honors, jobs, community service...

Why wouldn't the school catch someone illegitimately applying early to Harvard and Yale? The school has to send transcripts and the GC reports after all. It sounds like the school has shot itself in the foot on this one and the students and parents have grounds to be angry.

But applicants lying -- I guess this comes down to whether the GC report took the applicant's word for something and this turns out not to be true?

Anyway, it is hard on innocent parties. If this happens often, it looks like the school needs to do some orientation of students about the consequences of lying, etc.
