Congratulations on your acceptance to Emory! The Office of Admission and the Student Admission Representatives know a campus visit can be very helpful as you decide which college to attend, and we hope your visit will be both exciting and productive. We are glad you are taking a closer look at Emory.

Please note these very important reminders about your visit. You may wish to bring this letter with you for future reference.

etc.

My heart skipped upon reading that, and I was so pumped, and then about 45 minutes later...

Dear Mr. [Me]:

We apologize sincerely for sending the wrong email today. The following email is the one you should have received, as your file is incomplete and has not been reviewed for admission yet.

While processing your Regular Decision admission application, we noted that the items listed below as "initiated" have not yet been added to your file. All materials have now been sorted and filed with your application. In order to complete your file, please attempt to have all items below that are listed as "initiated" received in our office by end of day, Friday, March 18th.

etc.

They say my $50 application fee is missing, even though I applied for the College Board fee waiver and mailed that to them. Guess I'll fax it or something.

But what a letdown. This school is my #1 choice after Ivy and I think it's a reach (due to my terrible Midyear Report which I've previously posted about) so you can only imagine my excitement. Ouch.

Someone probably hit a wrong button. However, I doubt they’d reject you after that, if you’re competitive. And maybe it does mean that your acceptance is pending completion.

I’m calling them tomorrow to ask about the fee waiver anyway; think I should mention it to an ad com and see if that could be the case? Or just let it go? I’m pretty bummed about it, haha.

the same thing happened to my friend. He’s totally depressed and upset that they sent him an accidental acceptances. wow this doesn’t look good for emory

That would be extremely frustrating if it happened to my S. Unfortunately, mistakes DO happen and they did catch the error within a reasonable amount of time. It wouldn’t hurt you to mention that this was upsetting, but it probably won’t give you a huge boost in the evaluation process. Good luck!
