So the college I applied ED to called my Guidance Counselor and requested for my 1st quarter grades and it's not required. I'm not worried about it because I did exceptionally well for my 1st quarter. But what does that mean? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?!

It means they want more information. So, you're probably on the edge.

but i mean they wouldn't call everyone whose on the fence right - do you guys think i'm leaning a particular direction? could it also mean that - i'm accepted but they want to double check on my 1st quarter progress?

You can interpret it any way you want, but there really isn't a point in doing so. Just stop worrying about college and have some fun while you're still in high school. Whatever happens happens.

what he said.
