I looked at the free response and the fact that you get every single formula is just....weird. USNCO (at local and national levels) gave only 3 for the whole test, but I guess AP isn't aiming for those olympiad standards, even if the material covered is about the same.

:? Why the hell are you complaining? It's a good thing.

No kidding... It's for us non-olympiad people
Formulas for multiple choice as well? Or not?

calculating molarity, the equilibrium expression for Ka and Kb, everyone should know.

Still, I think they should add Ecell = Ecathode-Eanode

i just think it's silly that they give you all those formulas, but only for one section.

Well yeah that was the point of my post...giving such a staggered amount to one section....***

Again though - are the formulas only for FRQ or do we get them for the MC as well?
As for the formulas - yea it is overkill. On an early mock exam, definitely plugged and played a little on the thermochemistry formulae

Only for the FRQ (unfortunately). I agree that some of the formulas are way unnecessary but, I like the fact that I don't have to memorize everything 100% correctly. But really, to score decently on the test, it's highly likely that you've already memorized most of the formulas just from using them, because most of them are pretty simple.

Either way, the more, the better.

I think they're very helpful. There are a few formulas that you occasionally need, but I can never seem to remember, like that last one in the thermochemistry/kinetics box.

It's just because when graphing calculators were invented, the kids with more money could put all their equations in their calculators, giving less wealthy kids a disadvantage. The formula sheet gets rid of that.

Also, this way, I think tests more actual understanding than formula memorizing. Besides, if you have to look for every equation, you've lost already. They're just a reminder.

well your probably going to have to memorize some of those formulas for the MC section

Because it's only on FR, the student has to know the important formulas for the MC anyway. So I doubt the formula sheet makes a huge difference in the overall score.

I hate having to memorize the kinetics equations in order to answer the kinetics graph questions. Do we also have to know how to do half-life with 1st and second order reactions on the MC? With the formula sheet, I can do anything (wish it was with the MC).

i hate how u have to know the kinetic equations like first order and zero and stuff

also i dont like how u have to know the graphs of the 1st, zero and 2nd's x- and y-axis
