As of 2/1, they've made a decision. I applied before the priority deadline like 1-2 days before it. Do you think it'll be bad or good news? I applied to Smeal btw.

Only time will tell! Good luck. :)

ah...! lol

Really it took this long?? I turned in all my stuff really early but not the application. I turned in the application at 11:50 on 11/30 and I just checked the application page and they said they reached a decision on the 8th of december.

did you get your answer??

No, the mail should come today..

good luck, its stupid they dont tell you online though

****...I didn't get into University Park...they said I can choose from other campuses though. THIS SUCKS! Penn State was a match for me...

How could this be? God dammit. I don't want to go to the other campuses.

I open the mail and see a big envelope, but the letter says they are unable to offer me admission to UP.

This is my second rejection..it hurts.

I doubt I'll get into any of my other schools now, which were all more competitive.

parikhs, what were your stats?

3.6 UW, 1190 one sitting, 1220 composite

I did all the optional sections....***

where do you live, parikhs?

NYC - I looked at the brochure for all the other campuses and the student population is so small...I would not like it at all. I feel like crap. Do you think if I called them up and talked to them...maybe send them a midyear report and my ACT score, that they'd change their decision?

you got rejected from NYU too right... i remember reading your business extracurricular activities and how they overall dominated

remember that pennstate and NYU are among the largest schools in teh country, so if you dont have the numbers your screeewed

if you applied to smaller schools and schools like cornell that look at apps more in terms of ECs, Recs, Essays you should have a good shot...

The fact that you waited so long to apply really hurt your chances. It would have been smarter to apply in October because university park is the campus that fills up the fastest (obviously- lol)...Your SATS and GPA are above psu standards... also, i know that it is harder to get into out of state.... good luck with everything!

Yah stonecold I applied to Cornell, BU, BC, Northeastern, Villanova - I got deferred from UMich too.

Juicy - I didn't find out about Smeal until Novemberish... and didn't know it was rolling.

parkis what is ur weighted gpa??

Why is it harder to get into PSU from OOS? I thought they don't consider geographical locations. Thats what the PR website says.

state schools give preference to their state ...thats a given

they mean outside of pennsylvania, they dont consider geographic locations (for instance montana isnt more desirable than new york state, at least they claim)

When is the earliest you can apply to PSU? and...when is the earliest that you can hear from them?

When we visited, someone specifically asked the admissions counselor if it was harder to get admitted from out-of-state. The answer was "no". I think it IS critical to apply as early as possible.
