They said "I wouldn't worry"

Ok, so I'm applying as a transfer (but I was admitted last year, still had to apply again though) and when I talked to the person on the phone to find out if they had everything the lady said yes. I asked if a decision would be made soon and she said it was still under review but then told me I "shouldn't really worry about it." What does that mean? Do they say that to everyone or is there a chance my application has been reviewed already? Does being admitted last year help my chances?

I would take that as a very good sign. Good work!

Or maybe...that was her fifth call and shes getting sick of ppl asking..haha jk. I think you have a great chance since you got accepted last year. Im hoping I get accepted too!

If you have a good college GPA + you were accepted last year ===> "you shouldn't really worry about it."

I wouldn't hold my breath for a quick decision though. If you're a freshman right now then probably they will want spring grades, and even if they don't, you probably won't hear before late april/may.

So what is considered a good college GPA? I have a 3.66. Is that good? I took 6 courses (An honors English Course, a 300 level writing course, astronomy, world religions, 2 languages). I got 4 A's, 1 A-, and 1 B. Is that an ok gpa for usc transfer? I see a lot of people on this board seem to have 3.8+ so I'm a bit worried.

Well, maybe it's not the very strongest, but it's still good. Admissions is always hard to predict, and transfer even moreso because it depends on the number of admitted freshman which decline and the quality of transfers applying.

But you have a good GPA (in classes that they like to see transfers take) and you probably had good SAT's and HS grades (though those count less) if you got in before.

So in summary - nothing in life is guaranteed, but it looks good. I would just work hard this semester and maintain that GPA (bringing it up would be even better) because they will ask for spring grades. Again - I wouldn't worry about it :)

a 3.5+ college GPA is very good

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm trying not to worry about it but it's hard having to wait so long... I wish I had gone last year when I had the chance...oh well, if I get in as a transfer I'm going for sure. I still have to wait at least 6 weeks to find out though... time is going by so slowly.
