They still don't have my stuff!

Woo! They have my "Extended" Essay (Improv Prompt)

Two left! (better than three!)

Okay. . . so they HAVE to have all three though, because my GC wouldn't send them all in separate envelopes. They were definately together. Tomorrow?

P.S. I didn't call like I said. By the time I got home, it was past business hours.

^^^great! they must have been overwhelmed with the number of EA applicants, and got behind in the scanning of materials.

I really hope they aren't behind on decisions though(well. . . a decision I want to hear! lol)! Buffalo plays Chicago on the 15th, and it just seems so perfectly. . . appropriate ;)

I wish I knew if my application would even be read if there is a missing credential. Somewhere I heard that depending on what's missing, they may request another copy or they might go ahead and make a decision based on what they have. If I don't get an e-mail asking me to resend what's missing I could conclude I'm already in the rejected pile! I don't think I'm so stellar that they'll decide to admit me with a missing credential, but who knows.

Looks like they are still adding stuff to the Database of All Teenagers, folks -- DS had stuff added on Monday, and his research paper showed up on last night's upload (which was sent with his essays, and arrived 11/2).

I'm glad to hear stuff is still being added. My missing piece was mailed in early October with something that they did get so I'm not too hopeful they'll find it.

^^ You need to call the admissions dept ASAP. Have you faxed them a duplicate of the missing piece?

They have specifically said numerous times they do not want phone calls or emails, and do not want anything to be resubmitted until you hear from them.

jenesais_quoi is correct. For menloparkmom and anyone who is tempted to re-send documents or contact the Admissions Office, please first read this entry from Chicago's Uncommon Application blog: Chicago's Uncommon Application: OMG, You don't have my stuff!!!!

Note the last half of the entry, which starts "At this time, DO NOT re-send ANY portion of your application."

Libby has repeated this request as recently as the Thanksgiving blog entry. I have no way of knowing, of course, but my guess is they will still be scanning credentials and entering them into the database for at least a couple more days -- maybe more.

I'm starting to feel like a participant in a psychological experiment. Them: Here's this wonderful school, we'll be glad to tell you all about it, we'll even come to your school and extol its unparalleled virtues. It's phenomenal, it's unique, it's for lovers of knowledge and learning and those of you who live in your mind (you know who I mean). And it's beautiful, there is an abundance of bookstores, for crying out loud. Me: It's perfect for me. Absolutely perfect. So I visit, I interview, I fill out forms, get others to fill out forms that say I'm wonderful, I take tests and do well so they know I'm qualified, I agonize over essays, writing and rewriting until they are as perfect as UChicago is for me. Then I get everything there early....or so I think....there's something missing....that I know was sent! OK, I'll resend it. Oh, wait, they don't want me to. They want me to wait.....how long? How can this be happening? Can I email my counselor? Nope. Can I call someone? Nope. Can I resubmit what's missing? Nope. Just wait. We might find it. But now....maybe it's a ploy to see who is really serious about attending. If you REALLY want to go there you might ignore their admonitions. Maybe that's the true test of an applicant's interest.....No, they wouldn't do that.....or would they?

Just calm down guys. They've said a thousand times that if something needs to be resent, they'll give you plenty of time. Just chill.

Argh. I got an e-mail today, saying I am missing stuff. Send my essays as attachments five minutes later. Hope this doesn't ruin anything.

katia11, why would this ruin anything? The essays weren't there, they asked you for them, and you sent them. Think of it this way--now they have an identifier for you if you are part of a discussion--"She's the one we had to have resend her essays." And the response would be, "Oh yeah, and she did it right away."

OK, so they got my supplemental recommendation, but has anyone's supplemental information showing up yet?

Yeah, I guess. That person on the page before (with the psychological experiment) freaked me out. Should be good. After all, I KNOW they were sent, so they just got lost in the shuffle.

Katia (and others) I don't blame you for being freaked out, as this thread, like the rest of the admissions process, seems to be whipping people into a frenzy.

But really, them asking for you to re-send is not a bad sign--they've noticed you! You responded! Now, just go back to wishing and hoping--best of luck.

I agree with seashore, Katia. It's a great thing they want your application to be complete! I'm really sorry if my post spooked you. That was the last thing I'd want to do. I hope I hear soon that they want my missing thing. At least there's a chance they are still interested.

ducktape, mine did.

Ah, crap. Admissions is getting a call tomorrow.

LOL jenesais_quoi, it made me wonder because, well, we all know Chicago is a pretty unique school.

Also. . ."Katia (and others) I don't blame you for being freaked out, as this thread, like the rest of the admissions process, seems to be whipping people into a frenzy."

LOL- I started this thread! Sorry, all! It was a few weeks ago and I wanted to absolutely make sure that I was doing the right thing by waiting.

Anyway. . . I have a new theory. My essays were sent as hard copies on paper. If they say they didn't receive them (which they did), I would send them in an e-mail (which I did). Now they don't have to scan them!

And the wait continues. . . !
