They're everywhere

Okay, so after a couple weeks of traveling around visiting different campuses (Duke, Georgetown, Yale, state schools) and asking current students at those universities about their experiences, i've noticed something....

Everybody is from New Jersey.

No joke, maybe it's because there aren't many large, respected schools there but it seems like every student I talk to on tours grew up in the garden state. I brought this to the attention of my brother at Stanford, and he said something about what Asians are to the west coast people from Jersey are to the east.

Anyone have similar experiences?

they don’t get into Princeton or Rutgers? Or choose not to apply? OMG GASP.

Not that surprised to be honest. People move from their home state.

There are a more than a few New Jerseyans on here.

lol I’m from New Jersey

NJ has some of the best public schools in the country.

I live in a “big mall” town, and cars from New Jersey are threatening to overtake my own state’s cars in the parking lot. Which is a lot stranger than going to OOS colleges, since New Jersey is also fairly close to tax-free Delaware - why would they come to my state to shop?

yeah, we are! :)

I think I’ve only met one person from NJ. She’s going to Rutgers of Tufts. [giveup].

its like… a NJ diaspora lol THEY’RE EVERYWHERE

Ew, no one wants to go to Rutgers if they can help it. And Princeton is insanely difficult to get in to.

We need options. And it’s a pretty competitive state I guess. Nothing much else to do anyways.

…xD im from NJ too

Im from NJ as well. Rutgers is like STD central. Theres plenty of schools to go to in New Jersey, I don’t think that’s the issue.

There are like 8.6 or 8.7 million people who live in Jersey(and a lot of them can’t wait to get out), so you’re bound to run into a few.

^Lol, I just discovered today that Rutgers supposedly has the highest rate of STD exchange in the nation.

…is that really true?

It wouldn’t surprise me if it was true.
It’s a big party school, but I think it gets overshadowed by Penn State’s party rep. At Rutgers you can walk down any street and there are at least 2 parties on every block you can just walk into, no questions asked.

I’m from Jersey also, and I agree with kamcNJ. NJ is just…blah, we just want to get out of here because it’s too normal. Plus almost EVERYONE in NJ goes to Rutgers. It’d be really boring and annoying to have to see your high school classmates again. We also have a lot of schools that are really good. They’re not number 1, but on average most of them are above average. That’s why a lot of families move to NJ.

Hahah I actually just posted something about this in another thread (The one about what colleges you really hate), since I live near Duke and my history teacher once mentioned that there are only people from New Jersey there.

meadow36- I’ve heard Radford University has the highest STD rate, albeit not from a credible source.

Aw, why all the Rutgers hate? I have many friends attending lol.

The grease trucks are awesome! And the whole std thing is just urban rumor, though I’d still check just to be sure before having any one night stands.

I’m only going to miss one thing about NJ (besides the people), and that’s its beaches. Despite all the fake guido crap that goes on down there, the shore is a really fun place to be.

^because too many new jerseyians go to rutgers! and i just don’t like the campus.

All the OOSers from within the US at Michigan seem to be from New York or New Jersey. Or atleast 80% of them. I would be surprised if that 80% figure I pulled out of my ass was true.
