<p>Confession: When my son scored an 800 (verbal) and a 12 essay on his SAT in '07, I was very proud – but a little jealous, too. I got a 656 on my verbal back in 1969 – good enough to help get me into the best Seven Sisters college (you know, the one outside Philly) but still! My son once showed me a place on the web which said that old-timers can add about 75 points to their “old scores.” </p>
