Thick Envelope, thin envelope?

Now that most of us have (hopefully) sent off our EA apps: does EA acceptance usually come in the form of a thick or thin envelope? [dreads December 15]. Or is it just done unceremoniously, online?

The acceptance envelope is thick, but (judging from RD experience), I believe it's mailed on the 15th, and you can check online on that day.

ahhhhhh... it's pretty sad that i have nothing to look forward to... expecting deferral... :(

ahhh I don't want to think about this yet. Now that the app is in, I'm doubting myself more than ever!!!

I find comfort in preparing for rejection and not getting my hopes up. That way, if I am deferred or accepted, I will be happy.

yeah me too. I'm starting my other apps because the devastation and stress would be too great to do them after december 16th

la la la im not listening la la la...
still happy do re mi
about mailing application ti do sol re
and having it out of my hands la fa re mi
dont wish the next month and a half away do do la mi

nice........

do, a deer, a female deer
re, a drop of golden sun......

mi, a name i call myself
fa, a long long long long long way to run!!

Other than the possibility of being upset over deferral/rejection, it's also easier to start applications in advance than to spend your Christmas break trying to finish up applications for other colleges!

I'm guessing you're a Sound of Music fan?

so - a needle pulling thread...

have you guys ever heard the homer simpson version of that song?

la a note to follow so!
ah, Homer Simpson...
the inspiration for my email address, when he goes to buy lisa her sax, and he says, hey what would you like darling, a clariminet? an oboemabo? a saxamaphone?

hehee im guessing that you're talking about a different email address than vickyblueyes which surely came from that hugh grant movie....yum hugh grant

heres the song!

DOUGH... the stuff that buys me beer,
RAY ..... the guy who sells me beer,
ME...... the guy who drinks the beer,
FAR..... the distance to my beer,
SO...... I think I'll have a beer.
LA...... la la la la la beer,
TEA..... no thanks, I'm drinking beer,
That will bring us back to...
(looks into empty glass)
D'oh!

ur right, its my home one, an oboemabo one... and the vickyblueeyes is not from a movie, it was my name at GYLC last summer. I am victoria and dont let people call me vicky, and they all wanted to call me vicky. i have really blue eyes, so this one kid called me MickyBlue, like Sinatra, and people used it as an excuse to say VickyBlue. Anybody out there go to GYLC, session 5, Nigeria?

talk about random tangent... :) not like I don't enjoy reading them

I didn't apply EA to yale because of the binding part (and I'm poor) - but I received acceptance from another College. I believe the myth (and I think the usual) is if you receive a thick, stiff envelope - it means you got in. This was actually true for me because it came all advertisements on how pretty the campus was, a bumper sticker (go figure), and a ton of other frivolous details that I can just find on the website. The letter itself was just one page.

As cynical as it sounds, I would imagine they would not invest in giving out free, beautifully designed folders if one was not accepted. A simple 8.5"x11" letter saying "nope, sorry" sounds about right.

But why try to guess when you can just open the envelope?

Thescathach, EA isn't binding! Congrats on your other acceptance, though...Are you applying to Yale RD?

And your logic seems quite sound...I think some people just want to know BEFORE they open it. They want to know what to anticipate when they open the mailbox door and reach in...

i want a big fat envelope. a big big big fat envelope filled with letters written in 40 languages, each saying "It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been accepted to YALE"
then i can travel around the world telling people in 40 languages that i got accepted to YALE.
lol

haha that sounds liek a good plan!
