Hey guys/gals, I am looking for an apt in Berkeley and was wondering if anybody would be interested in roomating. Contact me if you do...

i am looking for one too

let me know

guy/21old/fall08

heyhey.,..
i want a female roommate for fall 08~ anyone want to share?

Do they offer a frat/soror type houses for rent? We can save a bundle if there was such a place--4 rooms, 3 baths, living room, dining, etc.

I'm looking for roommates too. I'm transferring into CS in the fall from Cal Poly (SLO).

girl/19/fall08

Are you guys looking to share a room or an appt?

Me TOO!! I do need a roommate.. probably housemate!!
I am transfering to CAL... will be available for renting in August.....

girl/19/fall 08/ Chinese...

plz PM me and we can discuss further... THX SO MUCH...
I need this thread for so long....
btw.. my budget is about 5-600.... not too far away from campus..
safety is the most important factor to be considered....

Do you guys know how much for buying a house?

i am not certain if i am going to pick CAL but if i do i will probably live off-campus...
i prefer to live on-campus but i don't want to share a room (most likely i will not end up getting a single) so if i don't find a safe studio or 1bdrm apt in my budget thats close to campus... i would not mind sharing a 2-4bdrm apt or house

i feel a little bit strange listing myself like some newspaper roommate ad, but here it goes:

19/female
i'm neat
very friendly & social
health nut
budget: ???-1000
roommate preference: any gender, just must be trustworthy, fun, and somewhat neat

send me a message if you wanna room

Hongda,

Would you want to buy a house or a condo? Depending on the type of place, you can spend anywhere between 200k and 2M.

I'm from the bay and I'm pretty sure you can't find anything to buy in Berkeley for 200k even in the worst parts.

New!!! Studio Condo: One of Four Beautiful 1915 Condos

Here is one within biking distance to UCB.

Thank you PooperScooper. Let me think about it. I may buy one at my second year.

I have a real estate property in China. I don't know whether I should sell it and buy one here or do something else...

The market is still pretty bad here. From an investment standpoint, I would probably wait a year or two before considering.

I'm not trying to rag on you Pooperscooper but I'm pretty sure that condo on craigslist was in the ghetto. My friends lives a few blocks over and there are shootings, theft, etc constantly. Just the other day their was a drive by. Plus, it's almost two miles from campus. Uphill I believe. At least it looks nice on the inside though. I did say that you couldn't find 200k in the worst parts though and you did.

Guys.

Craigslist. Seriously.

I was thinking about buying as well, but not sure if now is the right timing.. maybe i'll rent the first year and buy the second if the market gets better.
Anyhow, I was thinking about two bed/two bath apartment and find a nice roommate, any gender.. gotta be clean! my budget is ?$?$-$1200. if we'll split it or even i'll pay a little more (i need a place with a parking spot, got an expensive car ;@)), we could get a decent place. IM me if interested people... I wanna try and close a deal ASAP, the sooner you close it, the better deal you get!

chickadee... ultimately your statement was correct...you said you could not find a place to buy in Berkeley for 200k which I also have never seen. The place that was posted is in Oakland which is completely different than Berkeley.

That is true.

Since Hongda is attending UC Berkeley, I assumed that he was looking for something around UC Berkeley and the unit that I posted claims to be within biking distance.

From what I have seen in my 3 minute search, 250k seems to be the starting price for a place in the actual city of Berkeley. Here is one being offered at 279k:
