Thin Envelope: Not Accepted, Not Rejected, Not sure what to think!

Hey, I just got my letter today and I was rather preplexed yet joyful that I got placed on NDs waiting list. Im wondering what is the type of student that gets off the list? Ill be sure to show interest of attending, to the point of promising to go if accepted, but does anyone kno of what students have done in the past that have helped their case? thanks!

I have the same questions. My waitlist letter came in the mail today and I have no idea what to do now. Does anyone have any tips or pointers or know the likelihood of being addmitted from the waitlist?

from what my guidance counselor said, and he is nationally recognized and visits ND about 4 times a year (he gives talks in Indiana and so he visits ND will he is there), made it sound like you have resubmit additional letters of recommendation, write more essays, update you records, etc. I am not sure the formal procedure though.

I am a current freshman at ND who got off of the waitlist last year. My two roommates also were originally waitlisted. Don’t lose hope, as ND almost always goes deep into the waitlist, and the state of the economy only increases the chances. That being said, if you have not been in touch with your regional rep at all, do so now. Shoot them an email telling them how much you really like ND and how you would most certainly go there. Also, send in a letter that articulates the reasons why you love ND and how you would be a good fit. Also, mention any awards or recognition you received since submitting the app, and if you know of an additional teacher or coach that could write you a rec, then do that as well. The important thing is not to lose hope and let them know of your interest. For when it all comes down to it, everybody’s stats are pretty much equal and they will take the student who they know really wants to be here. That being said, if anyone needs any additional help, feel free to pm me.

I second that. I was also waitlisted last year. After I got my letters back, I sulked for about two weeks (because I wasn’t accepted anywhere I really wanted to attend), and then I shot my regional rep a quick email (which, by the way, was the first time I contacted her) saying that I was still interested. Then I sent a letter to admissions reiterating my interest, explaining why I am a good fit, etc. It’s definitely better to act quickly. There were lots of people getting off the list before I sent in my letter, so to be safe, get started on it early. Good luck, this whole waitlist thing was very stressful.

Ok, Does Notre dame like it if you send them additional info? Did you even send in actual new material? If so, what kind of stuff do they like to see

i will offer my opinions, but i am only a senior. first, i would send a letter to them saying that you want to be on the waitlist and say that you would attend if you are accepted (shows them you really want to go). Additionally, you can send them third quarter grades (if they are really good shows improvement), maybe an additional recommendation. Also get in touch with your regional counselor as he/she may be able to get you in the right direction.

thanks for the advice
i will email my regional counselor.
i already sent back my waitlist reply form priority haha
i spoke with my guidance counselor and she told me to write a formal letter to the school
she also told me she could call notre dame on my behalf.

she also told me not to send any more info? is this good or bad advice?

i would ask your regional counselor when you make contact.
