Things about QuestBridge

1) Is it really for poor people? What about middle-class people?
2) What exactly is it?
3) Is it really helpful?

Thx

Their website is very helpful. They describe the financial profile of recipients. Hard to define middle class, but I woudlnt invest a lot of time in it if your family wouldn't qualify for need-based financial aid.

Profiles

Home Page
<a href="http://www.questbridge.org/%5B/url%5D">http://www.questbridge.org/</a></p>

Google is your friend.

1) Yes, it's for low-income students only.
2) It's a scholarship program that matches you to full-scholarships at certain colleges (Pomona, U Chicago, Columbia, etc.).
3) It's helpful if: you are a low-income student; you are a resident; you are a URM. If you're not a URM, it's going to be tougher (Asians made up less than 10% of those matched, and whites only 15%).

Questbridge will be helpful even if you do not make the finalist group because
when you apply through it you are signalling the fact that you will add to the college's economic diversity....a chance you would not get without dropping
akward hints all over your essays. ;)

Remember you do not send in your financial info until much later.....

on the down side,IMO
Questbridge does not seem to cover a whole lot of colleges..... :(

at least not my #1 through #3 choices
