Things considered in college other than the numbers

I heard that Cal States are an all numbers game. (GPA x SAT/ACT)
I’ve heard that they don’t look at your extracurricular activities, is that true?
I’ve done tons of community service in high school and activities. I’m just wondering if they care about essays, recommendations, and personal statements also.
Might consider some UC’s since I’m more of an activities/talents person.

All Cal States use the eligibility index to rank applicants except for Cal Poly SLO which uses an MCA point system.

(CSU GPA x 800) + (SAT Math+CR) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT Composite x10). EC’s are not considered in their admissons. For Cal Poly SLO, EC’s are worth about 10% of your application. You get MCA points for leadership and jobs related to major.

Letters of recommendation and essays are not considered. If you want these items to be considered, then look at UC’s which consider essays and EC’s or privates which consider all of these items.

Though UCs value ECs, you still need a very solid GPA/test scores to gain admission to any of them.

What are your qualifications so we can help you form a list of schools.
