Things i hate about cc

While, I've "met" a lot of nice people on CC who'd lov eto see in real life and others who I just wish i could emulate there are somethings that just make my blood boil about CC. Some things I detest, hate, abhor, loathe about CC.
Keep in mind that I don't hate all of CC there are just some elements of CC that could be completely done away with.

The belief that normal people who don't take honors/APs are stupid

The need to pad ones schedule with millions of Aps one hates and then die trying to achieve decent grades in them

The truly endless debates about affirmative action

The jerkiness which creeps up sometimes - where CCers call you stupid/insult you/ for not being as genius as they are
If this happened all the time I would give up CC- but thankfully, there are a lot of good things about Cc
feel free to respond- doesn't matter to me whether you agre or not

I completely agree

Um no one has said non honors/AP = stupid.
We are just saying, take the most rigorous classes available/possible.
Who said that such APs are hard? Also, who said we don’t like them?

Very few people call people stupid/non-genius, and those are the ■■■■■■ that do that.

You are taking offense to things that are meant to encourage you to expand your academic skills.

Normal people are stupid. I’m not even talking academically here; the human race really does suffer from a lack of common sense and intelligence.

I don’t understand people that wimp out on schedules when they could easily cope with a greater workload.

This annoys me too.

Welcome to the Internet.

I agree with the OP:) Sometimes the encouragement that some of you are referring to is hurtful. All I can say is do the best that YOU can do, and if you can’t handle 7+ AP classes, don’t take them. There are plenty of people who get into great schools and even Ivies without taking 10+ AP classes in high school. Think about it, since the average SAT score is around 2150 for those admitted to Ivies, for every person that scores a 2250 that is admitted, there is another person admitted with a 2050. While you should take the most rigorous courses that YOU can do, emphasize on your individuality and unique factors that you possess. Unique factors are what make applicants stand out. Only do what YOU can handle:)

AP classes at my school are not rigorous or challenging; the only reason to avoid them is if you are, in fact, lazy.

My classes are easy…

Everybody likes accusing others of being racist. It’s in our nature.

Get off the internets and go out with real people if you want to see sympathy or kindness.

Humans are the most intelligent beings on this earth. Calling them stupid is a paradox.

I’ll add one:

Students who ask whether they should take over grades of 790/750(SAT2), or 2300 SAT

^O, I forgot to add one:)
Students who ask if they should retake the SAT after getting a 2400 to prove that the first time wasn’t luck lol
Sorry, but if I were to get a 2400 on my SAT, there is NO WAY I would retake it haha

That’s what amuses me about CC-noimagination
For example, one guy posted that he took Bio and got an 105 in it without trying. I ,of course, thought he referred to AP BIo- because that would be a feat. turns out he/she is reffering to Homors Bio a course I took in my freshman year. Also, in my school Aps are death. My teachers give tests with 60-70 tricky questions. My Ap Bio lab is 20 pages long. I have to get a least a 98 in Bio to be competitive- scraping by with a 90 will drop you into the top 40% of my class- so maybe my school is harder. A lot of the time CC doesn’t account for that. As for needing to talk to other humans to get sympathy I think thats sad that you believe that. I also think that its sad that you treat others that way. There are posts by people who are really down on their luck and nned encouragement- if I was in the dumps I’d wan’t some kind words from someone so I want to reciprocate.

^I agree:) I think the level of difficulty varies from school to school, and sometimes people just assume that AP classes are easy in general due to the fact that they happen to be easy at their school. O well though, all we can do is the best that we are capable of. It makes no sense to get down on ourselves because someone takes one or two more AP classes than us. It will all work out in the end, and I’m sure we will all get into good colleges regardless:)

Ughhh, yeah! Totally agree! I hate those people in the Chance Me threads that laud their 36s and their 2380s and their Siemens/Intel finalist statuses over us mere mortals ):

Stupid != lack of intelligence. It is the poor application of whatever intelligence might be present.

I didn’t mean that in a sarcastic way. Online forums are anonymous and therefore tend to favor polarized, extreme opinions that would never be made in a more accountable situation. I don’t know you and you don’t know me - the kind of knowledge required to really understand someone can only come through personal interaction.

With that said, basic courtesy is always useful.

I really don’t think anyone who has never gotten those scores should say that such a person shouldn’t retake. Maybe you have gotten those scores, so in that case, ignore this post. I felt the same way before I got scores around 2300, but once I had them, I could totally understand the interest in retaking. Every human has an inner desire to reach perfection, and when perfection seems attainable, which it does when one has a 2300 or a 750 and one’s definition of perfection would have 2400 or 800 as an example, the desire switches into over drive.

Except, perfection does not exist.

Wartsandall’s incessant smileys

:)

I still find it hard to believe people on CC actually exist.

They don’t really. Not in any meaningful way anyway.

^^^LOL
^^I know, I can’t even tell if they are lying or not haha

Yeah I would’ve taken the SAT twice even if I had got 2300+ the first time. Maybe not 2400, but my decisions about studying (none) and number of times I’d take it (twice) were pretty much independent of scores.
