OK, I'll start:

I like it because its UCLA and its in LA.

"I like it because its UCLA and Its in LA."
this reason will probably the most popular but then again by making this post it might cause it not to be

I like UCLA because of the school spirit and unity, the Education Abroad program, and the opportunities related to my major and personal interests.

I hate that some people always feel the need to compare UCLA to Cal and qualify/justify their school by bashing one or the other.

pros: the surrounding area (westwood) is very nice. quality education. big name sport teams and somewhat near home for me. Food seemed pretty good and the library and work out buildings seem top notch.

cons: I didn't get a warm feeling while attending welcoming day. Everyone other than the counselors seemed rather cold. Sadly the only campus i recieved that friendly family like vibe was at USC =/. Also the dorm rooms are way too small haha

yup, i agree with martial

I hated the tiny rooms, and shared bathrooms (res halls)

I liked the enthusiasm of the dean of my branch (Chem. eng.), although the other teachers hated what he said in his Welcome speech. I liked him and the other profs. there.

con: traffic around the ucla area and westwood sucks :)

Like: South Campus
Dislike: North Campus

^ haha hey now, no bashing North Campus - we have nicer buildings than you south campus slackers :p

this is for flopsy

Like: North Campus
Dislike: South Campus

Like: people who like to balance academics and social life, campus aesthetically pleasing, good dorm food, good sports team and school spirit (but not overboard like some other school), many extracurricular clubs to join, many clubs to go clubbing at hehe, many entertainment and social opportunities. having the law school, business school, medical school, education grad school, etc. has its benefits (guest speakers, fiat lux seminars or elective classes with their professors, etc.)

UCLA has almost everything that you'd want as a college student. It's up to you to make the most out of it.

If you take the initiative to do things, you can almost make a private school experience out of UCLA.

Dislike: lack of (intellectual) participation in intro classes' discussion sections. traffic sucks.

Like: North Campus
Dislike: South Campus

...well south campus is alrigth, but the girls on north campus are way better

Like: beautiful campus, in LA
Dislike: horrible air

It's a friggn overhyped school... CAL OWNS.

Wow, qwerasdf, you really hate UCLA, don't you? Sucks to have that sort of animosity for a school you're hundreds of miles away from. Whatever tickles your fancy.

"It's a friggn overhyped school"

overhyped is in the eyes of the beholder. just because so many people find ucla as an attractive college choice doesn't mean everyone will think they same. you're probably one of those who don't, that's all. but i'd think most of us wouldn't say ucla is "overhyped."

like: the great balance between the social scene, academics, and athletics... the architecture... the view from janss steps

dislike: the traffic

like: the beautiful campus, delicious dorm food, surrounding westwood area, awesome school spirit, the rivalry against USC..haha. overall, ucla just gives out a good vibe. everyone at ucla seems so happy and prideful. :)

dislike: the 405. the small dorm rooms.

wait let me get this straight.. North Campus has all the liberal arts majors right? while SOuth Campus has all the science majors?

North Campus = Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Business

South Campus = Life, Physical, Mathematical Sciences and Engeineering

"good sports team and school spirit (but not overboard like some other school),"

sensing an ironic backhanded comment?

uhhh... i was missing some "s" letters like "sports teamS" and "other schoolS" ;) hehe
