<p>I'm sure a lot of you know who I am by now through my sporadic posts around the board, but I just felt the inspiration to write on this topic, for myself, future applicants, and those still in waiting for their results.</p>
<p>Going into the college-application process, I was blind, I had no idea what to do, and needing to take initiative to get it done myself was kind-of a shocker to me, but with a lot of help from people on CC I was able to finish my applications to both USC and UMich, my top two choices, and my safety, UK (University of Kentucky), because I currently live in Kentucky. </p>

<p>Why do you consider yourself to be ‘among a few brilliant minds’ if I may ask. What profound thoughts have you conjured up that make you so sure of your intellect? Please don’t say, “Yea I got 100% on my stats test without studying!!! I’m a genius!!!” as proof of your vastly superior intellect.</p>
<p>And, since we’re advising future applicants, be aware that you could end up like me (and the vast majority of OOS admits) and get nothing at all. Lo and behold, the story of my pathetic life!</p>

<p>No. There’s a slight chance you’ll be surprised; a high chance you’ll get screwed over.</p>
<p>It’s actually very easy to get into U of M OOS. There is a much higher chance of getting screwed over when you apply to schools like Swarthmore and Duke.</p>
<p>Congrats Lightja! Be happy with your success and ignore the naysayers. I look forward to your post four years from now letting us all know how you did.</p>
