things not to put on your cornell application

I feel your pain thekristin. After sending my applications, I've really reflected upon how entirely awful my essays were. Oh well. At least we gave it our best at the time - and there doesn't need to be any regret in that regard. All we can do now is wait, and hope for the best.

hahaha, my commonapp essay was about Pokemon, but i think, in the midst of it all, i pulled off a decent essay.

Uh oh. I thought my essays were really good, but now I'm not so sure. I hope I am not the only one that genuinely thinks they are good...haha

^^^ me 2, I loved mine! I worked on them for a month and a 1/2

wait thats so funny, i wish my college essay was about pokemon

hahaha. i spent about a week and a half on the cornell supplement essay and a whopping 2 days on the commonapp essay!

things not to put.
forget to designate a college.

yeah i was looking at some stats link someone posted and there were a few hundred people who didn't designate a college and 0 of them got in for 2011 i believe. that would suck. a lot.

free money for cornell tho lol

i wish i could have asked people to read my essays....i just gave it to my counselor and she liked it so i didn't change anything

My common app essay is about elevators. yes, elevators.

I showed it to like...4 of my teachers, and about 10 of my classmates to make sure it wasnt TOO stupid..haha

i love my essays. Even though my original was on my laptop that i spilled vitamin water on and then i blowdried to dry off and then the keys melted so i called Dell and told them it "over heated" so they told me it was a safety hazard so i got a new one and that ended up deleting my essay. the end.

so i wrote a new one and my english teachers told me it was one of the best they had read which makes me think...EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. maybe losing my original essay was the greatest gift ever?

and i wrote mine about my favorite musician of all time and his influence on me...

and the man is...

jimmy buffett.

nice nice....

A few people I know are writing essays that are basically summaries of their lives...or a summary of their application. Sheesh...those non-CC people...

OMG! i was going to write about elevators! well, about the art of giving elevator pitches.

but i ended up writing about trig

o_O! REALLY?? damn it. So I guess it wasn't as unique as I thought it would be....Well, it was more about how a lot of things in my life connected to elevators. LIke....one example would be that I used to live in a Hotel in Vietnam when i was younger (sort of like Zac and Cody from Suite Life...), so my sister and I would ride up and down to talk to people all the time. =]

well...great minds think alike afchang...hahaaa :D

haha, i had so many great ideas for personal statements! since i didnt get to use them all, i gave them away, rofl.

one was on emoticons ( >.< , --, ^^), one was on facebook groups, etc etc

great minds do think alike and great minds should be accepted =D

for common app, i wrote about moving from india to america at the age of 14....is that too cliched?
then i wrote my human ecology essay about my experiences that got me interested in neurological research and how the human ecology perspective could help my research....
