The nearest Nordstrom Rack is just 5 minutes on the 405 South of UCLA at Howard Hughes Center, though, even for N.Rack it's somewhat ghetto. The nearest Saks Off 5th are considerbaly further, both at Ontario Mills (40 minutes East on the 10 where it meets I-15) and at the Block at Orange.

Or you can always go to USC and start up ***** over there with them haha.

There's always sporting events going on. Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Angels... and there could be an NFL tm in LA soon

You can make it to Howard Hughes Parkway in 5 minutes from UCLA?

^

That is definitely a typo.

Was Samuel L Jackson eating at In N Out for breakfast? Beacause you know, hamburgers are the cornerstone of every nutritious breakfast.

I've seen some celebrities in some odd places. Played ball with Lil Romeo and Master P too (Master P sucks, Lil Romeo lit everyone up). Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite was DJing a club I was at, which I guess is a logical place to find a celebrity, except Pedro (aka DJ Efren) behind the wheels of steel is steel is still bit disconcerting at first. Elisha Cuthbert sat behind me at the midnight showing of Star Wars when it first came out. She was there with her pudgy husband and yes, she was there with all the geeks.

Nothing tops what I saw in the Philippines on vacation there last month though. I was at the mall there, not just any mall, but the type of counterfeit mall where you can get new "Nikes" for less than $20 and new "Lacostes" for $6 American. I'm wandering around this place and I ran into none other than former First Lady of the Philippines and international icon Imelda Marcos and her two bodyguards. And no, she was not shopping for more shoes (just counterfeit "rubies" I believe). That was like running into Hilary Clinton shopping for office furniture at Wal-Mart, if Hilary Clinton was Britney Spears (in rock star-itude) and the office furniture was another baby cradle. Small world it is.

No, I meant once you're on the 405, barring traffic.

So I guess not. ;)

Allena- You can if its midnight and you go 75mph.

Not that I know firsthand or anything. Right.

But yeah. It's not very far.

/And actually, I got there in 10 minutes DURING RUSH HOUR on Tuesday. It was AMAZING.

I recommend bay cities for sandwiches. Off of Lincoln and Santa Monica BLVD.
I second that place. not that close to UCLA though.

I've seen Imelda's shoe collection. Thousands upon thousands of shoes from all over the world sit in this room inside the palace. Most of them were worn just once and some were never worn, at all. She even owns one that lights up (I guess she used to use it when Disco was big).

that was kinda random. where is this located?

Haha. That place is always crowded.

how much are tickets for basketball games at UCLA for students?

When I saw her collection they were in the 'white house' of the Philippines. It's a tourist attraction so I would think they'd want to keep it there.

are there trails around the campus? like biking/running/walking trails? how is the safety there if so?

i come from the midwest where i have nice trails in my backyard full of deer, bunnies, and squirrels. omg i'll miss that! anything the closest to that at or around UCLA?

Well, not quite trails but there is the run-around-the-perimeter thing that people frequent go through -- just look @ the map of the campus and you notice its heart-shaped. Running around the perimeter means just that.

Safety? Well, I wouldn't run down Sunset...

No, there isn't anything close. There are plenty of squirrels... You need a car then!

what percentage of freshmen go home on the weekends? i hear that some drive randomly to nor cal......do those kids really have that much time on the weekends?

are weekends filled with hwk as well? or do profs reduce the workload?

It's not like HS where they give you a lot of *****work. It's more like, you have two midterms, and a final exam for your grade (math/sci. classes). Go at your own pace. Do as much work as you want/need.

A lot of SoCal kids go home for the weekends though. DWAI.

As for NorCal kids -- more like for holidays.
