any ideas?

It depends on your interests. I like theatre so I'm going to participate in an acting camp. Its run by the director of the school plays I were in and its at a local theatre company. Its about three weeks long.

well I'm into science ..research something of the sort but I don't really knwo who I should contact ?

Contact whoever is doing research you're interested in.

^i did that, and no one responded.

well one person did and told me i have to be at least 18...i'm 17.

so what then?

Keep on contacting as many people as possible. I had to email 23 people before finally finding someone. Do you live near an university that does lots of science related research?

I live near NYU ? columbia?

go to their websites and look at their different departments. find something that interests you and just email them. make sure you email a lot because lots of professors don't take high schoolers, but some do.

keep emailing professors- cdsflute is wrong- college profs are looking to help high school students and if they cant physically do research with u they will tell you someone that can and will help you with ideas, learning etc

bump ....

i too am interested in things to do over the summer that aren't summer programs, specifically things that are unique and can be done at a local level, as opposed to research, which everyone seems to do...

anyone have any ideas?
when i say unique i meant something along the lines of studying buddhism abroad at a tibetan monastery, organizing your own charity art show, etc

Whatever happened to being a kid?

I mean I have a little room because I'm going to college in the fall, but guess what I'm doing this summer?

NOTHING.

Well...I'm taking a self-defense class or two. But that's about it.

Take a class at a university.
