Things to do on an overnight

I just heard that on british npr… wow, i am a freak. who listens to british news. in america.

seriously though, you wouldn’t want the engines failing. In the 80s there was a plane that flew through the ash and all four of its engines failed. That doesn’t sound fun.

Yeah. Fair enough, really. It’s just bloody irritating. I hope Chicago isn’t too ****ed I’ve had to cancel at such short notice.

kitkatkatie – yes!

You wouldn’t take a taxi from O’Hare to U Chicago. It would be slow and expensive. You would take the CTA (train) blue line for 2.25 to downtown. Then grab a taxi. Or switch trains or take a bus.

I’ll second that; the train is a far better choice than a cab from O’Hare.

You’ll go to a crappy frat party, drink beer and smoke. I opted not to hang out with the guy whose room I was staying in, and it turns out he went and smoked other things the entire night, graah.

Go see POINT BLANK LIVE if you have a chance while you are in Chicago. You may get to play the Keanu Reeves part.

The frat scene WAS pretty lame. :stuck_out_tongue:
A note for anyone attending the admit days next week:
GET THERE EARLY on Thursday! I arrived at 9:45 and almost ALL of the classes were “sold out” - I had to attend a graduate “Biophysics of biomolecules” class, and it was WAY over my head. Don’t know why that was even on the list.

I came without registering or submitting any forms and the lady at the desk was extremely nice and I was signed in as a ‘walk-in’. However, I DID arrive at 8am, so I imagine that the spaces for walk-ins filled up after that. I was able to participate 100% in the Admitted Students Weekend.

In addition to spending the night, we ended up going to a frat party. Some 5 or 6 prospies from our house and our hosts all went to the Alpha Delta Phi party on Thursday night. The policy was charging students $3 and prospies got in free. Although I could see why the frat parties are seen as something that first-years do before it gets old, it was definitely fun. I was among the many, many, many drunk prospies that night, and nobody in my group regretted it. On a related note, my host told me that he had heard of prospies getting their admission offers withdrawn for getting sent to the ER and having their stomachs pumped after an excessively drunken night while visiting.

^ That seems kind of strange, since I’ve never heard of students being expelled for drunkenness, even if they’re underage. Maybe your host was trying to cover all his bases…

I heard the same thing as roflbot101; that if a prospective student were to passout and need assistance they would be denied admission.

This is not something I plan on doing, but I still don’t really see how that’s justifiable. Is it because that would be in violation of the release all prospectives signed? Wouldn’t simply drinking be violating that anyway?

roflbot, I heard the day after that SEVEN people from the past weekend got rescinded for getting sent to the ER. Might have just been a rumor though.

That was just a rumor. However, last week’s prospie night parties apparently sucked, so the big one from last week died last night before it even started…

omg guys, it is amazing!!! I’m still on campus and I just got back from an apartment party… so much better than the lame one for the 22-23 weekend…

I was actually staying the house where a couple kids got rescinded… no one wanted to tell me (and a group of 7 other prospies) where the party was. We did find it… after looking for about an hour. It was laaaaaame.

Definitely not what I expected, but it’s great. :)

^ Glad you had an awesome time.

A housemate who works in admissions told me the 7 prospies getting rescinded is just a rumor. Still though, try not to do anything stupid.:)

Yeah, my friend invited me to a party on Friday but I was long gone… :-(

Wow. Kitkatkatie goes hard, hahaha.

^^ lol, I don’t. It was actually pretty tame (at least it was for me). I got to talk to a lot of great people. Turns out there are the more normal kids in addition to the awesome nerds. I hung out with both.

Them nerds and their pocket protectors - must have been one ugly sight. :p
