Things to stimulate the mind

Does anyone do 'mind exercises' or sudoku or chess or something to get them into the 'learning mood'? If so what do you do?

you don't need any mind excercises to get into "the learning mood"
i think sodoku or whatever is a hobby, something you do for fun, not something to get you to want t "learn"!

But if you want to be more... well "better learner", just read, do your own math problems (guess sodukus are good in this case..).
Everyone has their own way of learning. Try different things. Whatever is the best for you...

I just started cross country:)

cross country doesnt stimulate my mind lol

lol i guess thats true...i do chess

You want to know what really helps? You're going to laugh, but I listen to the A Beautiful Mind soundtrack. It just helps me focus. That and anything by Pink Floyd is great for math or physics homework.

No joke, the A Beautiful Mind soundtrack is very impressive, I especially like Creating Governing Dynamics, but yeah, I'm very fond of sudoku and doing calc problems for fun [yeah call me weird], but oh well.

Calculus is actually the most fun area of math :)

Read some philosophy.

Nothing wrong with doing some calc problems for fun ;)

I listen to music too. The old classical music stuff, it's old and boring but it helps me get in the studying mood.

A Starbucks Venti Caramel Frappuccino. >=D

I Love doing crosswords, but only for my personal satisfaction.
I also like reading--philosophy is good. But nothing too boring, please :D

If you wanted to, you could do sudoku in the morning before school. this'll energize you, do it even if you're tired.

i love sudokus. at one point, i could finish them in such a short period of time. i almost finished the evil/superchallening ones... but i didn't. oh well... umm, exercise helps! endorphins. lol. (this reminds me of legally blonde)

Cocaine.

Just kidding.

Chess is tons of fun, and then afterwards I just feel like doing more "thought-requiring" things. Classical music while playing is even better. Classical music, chess, and a donut are the absolute unbeatable combo. I'm told Bobby Fisher ate donuts while playing. (JOKE!)
