Think I got a chance of getting in?

During my first year and a half or so of high school, I didn't take academics as seriously, and got 3.7s even with the couple honors and one AP weight I had, but I started taking academics more seriously, and junior year I was getting 4.1s and 4.2s (weighted), with close to that (4.05) this year. I really liked Chicago, and made it my stretch school, but do you think my earlier grades will keep me from being admitted?

As I am sure you are well aware, the admissions process at U Chicago is based on a number of different factors, including but not limited to GPA, course rigor, SATs, ECs, and essays. The information you have supplied comprises only a small part of your application and, as such, is not sufficient to give an accurate assessment of your chance for admissions. True, lower grades will not help your application but an upqard trend certainly might. Best of luck.

Yeah, I know. I guess I just meant will it keep me from admittance, my SAT is 2250 (1490 without writing). I know colleges don’t say they keep someone from admittance for one factor, but you gotta think that somethings will keep you out.

I am in the exact position you are in IamJammin. Crappy freshmen year and upward trend. How are your course difficulty and ec’s?

For course difficulty I’m pretty good. Two honors classes freshman year, one AP one honors soph, two AP one honors junior year, APs senior year. As for EC’s, I have band/marching band every year (plus other musical groups), three years of model UN, and three years of school newspaper, including one year as editor in chief. I feel like this all looks really good, but then makes it look like I slacked off freshman/soph year (which I absolutely did) and schools will see that and won’t like it.
